Gibiate
Synopsis
The story takes place in Japan. The year is 2030 and Earth has been completely overrun by a viral disease named "Gibia" that turns infected people into various different monsters, based on their age, sex, and race. A samurai and a ninja from the early Edo period travel together through time and arrive in a ruined Japan to aid a professor working on a cure for the virus. Together, they fight countless Gibia monsters, outlaws, and other fierce foes on their journey to save mankind.
I am basing this off the first episode and I plan to continue until at least episode 3. I went in to this show hoping for something good since I found the premise somewhat intriguing, however I think this show fails at being dramatic and suspenseful and is instead made laughable by the absolutely terrible monster designs that are made even worse by the god awful CGI. Any sort of interesting possibility for a fight is totally ruined by the fact that there is barely any movement in the fights themselves, instead opting for cheap cut away shots or very indistinct and lazy slashes to indicate an action, as well as other bad animation moments. This show attempts to be a serious story about an end of world scenario but is instead bogged down an made laughable by the terrible and very frequent use of CGI and sub par animation during the fights. The character designs are generic and I feel like the people who made this series really didn’t care about this show at all. There are far worse shows than this and nothing about this show is overly bad, it is just lazy. I am very disappointed because I was looking forward to this show, but I think it seriously fell short of my expectations and its own potential.
